Question:
What is the difference between low cost loadcell/strain gauge amplifiers and the more costly models?



Answer:
"Well, the high-end amplifiers are designed using only discrete components instead of using IC's to condition the signal. Furthermore a high-end amplifier will most likely be able to measure at very high frequencies, our SG-KP in example can go up to 30kHz, where low cost models stop at 150 Hz.

Another interesting point can be that low cost amplifiers are not always suited to condition bi-directional signals and convert them to a 4-20mA output signal, or the other way around to have a perfect bi-directional output signal." 

In conclusion, high-end amplifiers are stable high quality amplifiers that treat the signal respectfully, as it is, amplifying it with the lowest noise possible. This is why our SG-KP and SG-IP series are popular in Test & Measurement applications where accuracy and speed are key!
